PROJECTS
We set up Hilfswerk Ostasien more than 20 years ago. This non-profit association makes it possible to promote intercultural understanding with the countries of Asia and to provide assistance quickly and unbureaucratically in the event of natural disasters. The donations collected at our foundation celebration are used directly and without any costs for small and larger-scale projects. Over the years, we have already collected several hundred thousand euros.
“Sanni Foundation” project
The Sanni Foundation is a charitable foundation that champions orphans, the education of young people, health care and the establishment of social infrastructure such as hospitals – primarily in India and Myanmar.
As a result of the pandemic and the military coup, the economic situation in Myanmar is currently very tense. A lot of people are unemployed and even those who have work are often unable to feed their whole family because of inflation. Many children have to leave school because their parents are unable to finance their education.
In collaboration with the Sanni Foundation, the East Asian Association is now sponsoring 12 children in Myanmar. They receive financial and material support for basic supplies (food and hygiene products) and medical care and can also continue their school education. This makes it possible for them to enter a hopeful future.
Orphanage and nursery project in Indonesia
A severe tsunami followed by an earthquake hit the Indonesian island of Sudawesi in September 2018. At the time, the members of our Executive Board decided to use the proceeds from the foundation celebration to have an orphanage set up there with a trauma centre and nursery attached. In collaboration with the Yayasan Rahmania Fortuna Foundation in Jakarta, we were able to successfully implement the project.
